Try this timeless Betty Crocker recipe for crispy oven-fried chicken with chopped almonds - vintage chic at its best!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cut-up whole chicken (2 to 3 lb), skin removed
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 2/3 cup finely chopped blanched almonds
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Combine flour, salt, pepper, and paprika in a medium bowl. In a small separate bowl, gently whisk together eggs and milk. Spread almonds in a shallow dish or on a sheet of waxed paper.
  • Dredge chicken in seasoned flour, dip in beaten eggs, then coat with crunchy almonds. Allow chicken to rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Melt butter and shortening in a preheated oven in a shallow baking pan. Add coated chicken to the pan.
  • Bake the chicken for a total of 45-50 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the juices run clear or the internal temperature reaches at least 165°F.
