Make festive almond star biscuits for Christmas.
Ingredients:
  • 300g (2 cups) plain flour
  • 40g (1/4 cup) icing sugar
  • 50g (1/2 cup) ground almonds
  • 225g chilled unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2.20 gm vanilla essence
  • Icing sugar, to decorate
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Combine plain flour, icing sugar, ground almonds, butter, egg yolk, and vanilla essence in a food processor until a ball of dough forms. Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll out one portion between two pieces of baking paper to about 8mm thick, then cut into desired shapes like starfish or stars. Place on an oven tray and repeat with the remaining portions. Bake in a preheated oven for 10-15 minutes until they start to color and are fully cooked. You may need to bake them in two batches. Let them cool on a wire rack and sprinkle with icing sugar.
