Fluffy, delectable angel food cake: perfect solo or with whipped cream and fruit.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1.5 cups white sugar, divided
  • 12 egg whites
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1.5 teaspoons cream of tartar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) while you give a thorough clean and dry to a 10-inch tube pan.
  • Combine the flour and 3/4 cup of sugar, then set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk egg whites, vanilla, cream of tartar, and salt until reaching medium stiff peaks. Slowly add 3/4 cup sugar while continuing to whisk until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in sifted ingredients in 3 additions. Be careful not to overmix. Transfer batter into the tube pan.
  • Bake until the cake springs back when touched, about 40-45 minutes in the preheated oven.
  • Prevent decompression by balancing the tube pan upside down on a bottle. Once cool, gently run a knife around the pan's edge and invert onto a plate.
