Chocolate-coated honeycomb candy with a satisfying crunch.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 pound chocolate confectioners' coating
Instructions:
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, mix together sugar, corn syrup, and vinegar until the sugar dissolves. Cook without stirring until the mixture reaches 300 to 310 degrees F (149 to 154 degrees C) or forms hard, brittle threads when a small amount is dropped into cold water.
  • Take the mixture off the heat and gently mix in the baking soda. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan without spreading it out. Let it cool completely.
  • Melt the coating chocolate in the microwave or over a double boiler, stirring until smooth. Break the cooled candy into bite-sized pieces and dip them into the melted chocolate. Place them on waxed paper to set, then store them tightly covered.
