Elevate your table with our fluffy, high-rise dilly bread. This yeast and cottage cheese creation is sure to impress in its distinctive casserole dish form.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup warm water
  • 1 cup cottage cheese, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter, room temperature, plus more as needed
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons dill seed
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1 egg
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour, or more if needed
  • butter
Instructions:
  • Activate the yeast in warm water and allow it to rest for 10 minutes.
  • Combine cottage cheese, sugar, butter, 1 teaspoon salt, and baking soda in a large mixing bowl. Incorporate dill seed, dried onion, egg, and yeast mixture; mix thoroughly. Gradually stir in flour, adding 1/4 cup at a time, ensuring well-combined after each addition. If the dough is sticky, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of flour until desired consistency is reached.
  • Place the bowl covered with a clean cotton kitchen towel in a warm spot and let it double in size, approximately 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously butter a 1 1/2- to 2-quart baking dish.
  • Stir dough delicately to release bubbles, then transfer it to the prepared baking dish.
  • Once golden brown after about 35 minutes in the preheated oven, take it out. Brush the top with luscious melted butter, sprinkle with a pinch of salt, and let it sit in the pan for 5 minutes before moving to a wire rack to cool completely.
