Rich and moist banana bread made with sour cream and buttermilk, nut-free and perfect served warm with butter.
Ingredients:
  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup butter at room temperature
  • 0.5 cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 2.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and greasing 2 9x5-inch loaf pans. Next, combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and whisk together.
  • In a large bowl, combine butter, vegetable shortening, white sugar, and brown sugar. Use an electric mixer on Low speed until mixture is thoroughly combined. Add bananas, eggs, buttermilk, sour cream, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined. Gradually mix in half of the flour mixture, then add the remaining flour mixture. Beat on Medium speed for 1 minute. Pour batter into loaf pans.
  • Bake in the oven at 350°F until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, for 50-60 minutes. Let it cool for 15 minutes before serving warm.
