Adaptable sugar cookie recipe perfect for holiday parties and bake sales.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled to room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 large egg white
  • sugar sprinkles for decorating
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C, placing the rack in the center.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix cake mix, butter, egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Beat with an electric mixer on low for 30 seconds. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Increase speed to medium and beat until mixture forms a sticky ball, 30 to 45 seconds.
  • Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/4 to 1/2 inch on a lightly floured surface using a floured rolling pin. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and transfer them onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving 2 inches of space between each. Re-roll any dough scraps once to make more cookies. Brush the cookies with egg white and add decorative sprinkles to finish.
  • Bake one pan of cookies at a time in the oven until the edges turn golden brown. Smaller cookies will take 8-10 minutes, while larger ones will take 10-12 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool on the sheet for 1 minute before transferring to wire racks with a metal spatula. Let them cool completely for about 20 minutes.
