Tender coffee-infused pulled pork with a kick from red pepper flakes and tangy barbecue sauce - a must-try sandwich filling!
Ingredients:
  • 1 (5 pound) pork shoulder roast
  • 5 large cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups strong brewed coffee
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 (16 ounce) bottle barbeque sauce
  • 12 sandwich buns, split and toasted
Instructions:
  • Make deep incisions in the fatty side of the pork shoulder. Tuck in garlic slices into the cuts. Place the pork in a slow cooker, ensuring the fat side is facing up.
  • Combine the coffee, onion, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke in a bowl, then drizzle the mixture over the pork.
  • Slow cook pork until irresistibly tender for about 8 hours. Gently transfer the pork from the cooker to a large plate, discarding any extra fat. Pull pork apart using 2 forks or your hands.
  • Set aside approximately 1/2 cup of juices from the slow cooker; dispose of the rest. Put back shredded pork and reserved juices into the slow cooker, and season with red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Incorporate barbeque sauce and mix well.
  • Gently warm the pork on Low setting until the sauce is hot, approximately for an additional 30 minutes. Serve the flavorful pork piled high on toasted buns.
