Buttery crust filled with apples, sultanas, and cinnamon, topped with a beautiful lattice - irresistible Dutch apple tart.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs, beaten, divided
  • 0.33333334326744 cup white sugar
  • 2 pounds tart apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 0.5 cup sultana raisins
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and grease a 9-inch pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, butter, 1 1/2 eggs, 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon until a smooth dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured work surface, and roll out 3/4 of it into a 10-inch circle. Press the dough over the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pan.
  • Combine fresh apples, sweet sultanas, 1/4 cup of white sugar, and a tablespoon of fragrant cinnamon in a bowl. Spread the delectable mixture evenly over the dough in the cake pan.
  • Roll out the dough and cut it into 1/3-inch wide strips. Form an X in the center of the tart with the two longest strips. Create a lattice by weaving the strips in an over-and-under pattern, using the shortest ones for the edges. Press the ends firmly onto the tart edge and trim any excess dough with a knife.
  • Coat dough evenly with the remaining beaten egg.
  • Bake in the hot oven until the pastry turns a light golden brown, for about 60 to 65 minutes.
