Crispy panko-crusted fried chicken with sweet Tonkatsu sauce. Served with steamed white rice, cabbage, or mashed potatoes.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • pepper to taste
  • 2 cups vegetable oil, for deep-fat frying
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup panko bread crumbs
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - pounded to 1/4 inch thickness
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
Instructions:
  • Prepare the flavorful sauce by combining Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, and a pinch of pepper to enhance the taste. Keep it aside for later use.
  • Preheat the oil in the deep-fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare a plate of flour seasoned with salt and pepper, another plate of panko bread crumbs also seasoned with salt and pepper, and a bowl of beaten egg. Dip the flattened chicken pieces in the flour, then the egg, and finally the bread crumbs.
  • Golden brown, fry breaded chicken breasts in hot oil until cooked through, about 8 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Cut into thin strips, top with sauce and sliced green onions. Serve with extra sauce for dipping.
