Family favorite soft cookies with white icing, loved for generations. Always a hit with kids, no frosting needed. Perfect for little ones, irresistible and doubled for extra joy.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.75 cup buttermilk
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Combine the sugar, shortening, and egg until well mixed. Gently blend in the buttermilk and vanilla. Gradually fold in the sifted dry ingredients, then mix in the nuts.
  • Allow the dough to rest in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and spoon out rounded portions onto the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until golden. Allow to cool, then generously frost with luscious chocolate or velvety white icing. Indulge and savor every bite!
