Time-honored Irish soda bread recipe passed down for generations, yields foolproof results.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.25 cups milk, or more as needed
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons caraway seeds
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Heat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and lightly grease an 8-inch round glass baking dish.
  • Combine flour, milk, raisins, sugar, caraway seeds, vegetable oil, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl until you achieve a dough that is the perfect texture - not too wet or too dry. Adjust by adding more milk if needed. Transfer the dough to the baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
