Spiced chicken tenders with baharat seasoning, perfect as a main dish for 3 or wrapped in flatbread for 4.
Ingredients:
  • 1.25 teaspoons sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.75 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground star anise
  • 0.125 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 pound chicken tenders
  • 1 pinch ground sea salt, to taste
  • 0.25 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 0.5 cup sliced red onion
Instructions:
  • In a small bowl, mix together sweet paprika, pepper, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, star anise, and nutmeg until well combined.
  • Lay the chicken tenders on a plate and generously season one side with 2 teaspoons of the spice blend, adding sea salt to your liking. Flip the tenders and repeat the seasoning process with another 2 teaspoons of the spice blend and additional salt. Save any leftover spice blend in a sealed container for later use.
  • Preheat skillet over medium heat and add olive oil. Once it shimmers, add chicken tenders one by one, making sure they're not crowded. Cook for 4 1/2 minutes on each side until no longer pink inside and juices run clear. Use an instant-read thermometer to check for 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Transfer chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  • Sauté onion in the skillet until tender and translucent, about 4 minutes. Transfer onions to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Serve with chicken.
