Magical caramel sauce forms as condensed milk simmers in can, transforming this luscious banana caramel pie.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted
  • 4 medium bananas, sliced
  • 1.5 cups whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
Instructions:
  • Prepare the dulce de leche: Simply immerse the unopened condensed milk can in a saucepan, ensuring water fills halfway up the can. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and simmer for 3 hours, adding water as needed. Let it cool for 1 to 2 hours before proceeding.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Blend graham cracker crumbs with melted butter in a mixing bowl until fully combined. Press mixture evenly into a 9-inch pie plate.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes until lightly browned. Remove the pie crust and let it cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes.
  • Spread half of the luscious dulce de leche (about 3/4 cup) over the pie crust, then add a layer of half the ripe bananas. Repeat with another layer of dulce de leche and bananas for a decadent treat.
  • In a mixing bowl, whip cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Add sugar and vanilla, then whip until stiff peaks form.
  • Top the bananas with a generous dollop of whipped cream. Allow the pie to chill in the fridge for a minimum of 1 hour prior to serving.
