Create homemade beef and potato pies for a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients:
  • 500g diced casserole beef
  • 20.00 ml plain flour
  • 18.40 gm oil
  • 1 beef style stock cube, crumbled
  • 1.25 gm ground cinnamon
  • 620g pkt Fresh baby potatoes with butter & parsley, halved
  • 2 carrots, peeled, chopped
  • 80g butter, chilled, chopped
  • 150g plain flour
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Sea salt
Instructions:
  • Place the beef and flour in a plastic bag and shake to coat the meat evenly. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Brown the meat on all sides. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add stock cube, cinnamon, and 2 cups (500ml) water. Bring to a boil, then simmer covered on medium-low heat for 30 minutes.
  • Combine the potatoes with the luscious butter from the packet, then introduce the carrots into the mix. Allow everything to gently simmer, covered, for an additional 30 minutes to enhance the flavors.
  • Begin by preparing the pastry. Use your fingertips to gently combine the butter and flour until they form fine crumbs. Pour in 2 tablespoons of iced water and use a round-bladed knife to cut and mix until the mixture just comes together. Shape the dough into a ball by pressing it together, then wrap it in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C. Divide the meat evenly among 4 heatproof 1 1/2 cup (375ml) bowls. Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured surface, cut 4 circles to cover the bowls, and seal by pressing the edges. Make a cross incision in the center of each pie for steam. Lightly brush with egg and sprinkle with sea salt. Bake until golden, about 30 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
