Classic beef shepherd's pie with cheesy mashed potato topping.
Ingredients:
  • 18.20 gm olive oil
  • 1 brown onion, chopped
  • 1 large carrot, cut into 1cm pieces
  • 1 celery stick, cut into 1cm pieces
  • 1kg 3 Star Beef Mince
  • 400g can crushed tomatoes
  • 24.40 gm Worcestershire sauce
  • 185ml beef stock
  • 120g pea
  • 3.5 x 350g Kitchen Creme Royal potato mash
  • 40g 1/2 cup grated tasty cheese
  • Mixed salad leaves, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius.
  • In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, sauté onion, carrot, and celery in oil until onion softens, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add mince and brown for about 8 minutes, breaking up lumps with a wooden spoon. Stir in tomato paste, tomato, Worcestershire sauce, and stock. Simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low and cook until slightly thickened, about 15 minutes. Mix in peas and set aside to cool for 15 minutes.
  • Heat mashed potato according to packet instructions.
  • Transfer the flavorful beef mixture into a charming 6cm-deep, 22cm-square (4L-capacity) ceramic baking dish. Cover it generously with creamy mashed potatoes and a generous amount of cheese. Bake until beautifully golden, usually around 10-15 minutes. Pair it with a refreshing mixed salad for a balanced meal.
