Juicy, flavorful beer can-chicken recipe: Seasoned chicken barbecued on open beer can.
Ingredients:
  • 0.33333334326744 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 (12 fluid ounce) can beer
  • 1 (3 pound) whole chicken
Instructions:
  • Preheat the outdoor grill until it reaches a sizzling medium-high heat of about 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Combine the brown sugar, chili powder, paprika, dry mustard, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Place a half-full can of beer in the center of a plate.
  • Rinse the chicken under cold water and remove giblets and neck. Pat dry. Place the whole chicken on top of a can of beer with legs down. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of seasoning mix inside the chicken cavity. Be careful as the beer may foam when adding seasonings. Rub the remaining seasoning mix over the entire chicken.
  • Position the chicken upright on the can and transfer it onto the hot grill. Cover with the lid and grill until fully cooked, approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Confirm doneness by using an instant-read thermometer to ensure the thickest part of the thigh, next to the bone, reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Take the chicken off the grill and dispose of the beer can. Wrap the chicken in a double layer of aluminum foil, then let it rest in a cozy spot for 10 minutes before slicing.
