Indulgent blueberry bread pudding with golden homemade sauce – perfect for celebrations!
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3.5 cups milk
  • 8 cups sourdough bread cubes
  • 1.75 cups fresh blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over low heat, melt 3 tablespoons of butter with 1/2 cup of sugar until smooth, stirring occasionally for 3 to 4 minutes. Gradually stir in cream and let the mixture simmer until slightly thickened and golden for about 5 to 10 minutes. Transfer the sauce to a bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, use an electric mixer to whip together 3/4 cup sugar and 3 tablespoons softened butter until creamy. Mix in eggs and vanilla until fluffy. Gradually blend in milk until well combined.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine bread cubes and pour the milk mixture over them. Allow the bread to soak for about 5 minutes until moistened. Gently mix in the blueberries and transfer the mixture to a 3-quart baking dish.
  • Combine 2 tablespoons of sugar and cinnamon in a bowl, then sprinkle over the bread mixture. Finish by drizzling 1/3 cup of golden sauce over the top.
  • Bake until a knife inserted in the center of the bread pudding comes out clean, for around 35 minutes in the preheated oven. Serve with the remaining golden sauce.
