Indulgent chocolate pie with creamy filling and fluffy meringue topping.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell
  • 4 egg whites
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • In a saucepan, combine 2 cups of sugar, cocoa, and flour, then mix in evaporated milk and vanilla until smooth.
  • Whisk the egg yolks into the rich chocolate filling until smooth and combined.
  • Melt butter while stirring constantly until just melted.
  • Gently transfer the scrumptious filling into the awaiting pie shell.
  • Bake in the oven until the pie is perfectly set, for around 35-40 minutes.
  • In a glass, metal, or ceramic bowl, whip egg whites until foamy. Slowly add sugar while beating until stiff peaks form.
  • Cover the pie filling with a generous layer of meringue until completely coated.
  • Continue baking the pie in the oven until the meringue turns a light golden brown, approximately 8 to 10 minutes.
