Bibimbap: A harmonious blend of seasoned vegetables, tender beef, and rice topped with a runny egg yolk and spicy chili sauce. A transformative dish that combines diverse flavors into pure culinary magic. Korea's gift to the world.
Ingredients:
  • 1 Lebanese cucumber, cut into thin strips
  • 7.20 gm sea salt
  • 375.00 ml spinach, blanched, excess liquid removed
  • 20.00 ml sesame oil
  • 3.75 gm sesame seeds
  • 65g (1 cup) bean sprouts, blanched, excess liquid removed
  • 440g (2 cups) Sun Rice Sushi Rice
  • 27.60 gm vegetable oil
  • 2 carrots, peeled, cut into matchsticks
  • 300g lean beef mince
  • 4 eggs
  • Chilli sauce, to serve
  • Miso soup, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a bowl, combine the cucumber and 1 teaspoon of salt. Cover with cold water and let it sit for 20 minutes until the cucumber slightly softens. Rinse and drain before using.
  • Toss spinach with 2 teaspoons sesame oil, 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, and 1 teaspoon salt. In another bowl, mix bean sprouts with the remaining sesame oil, sesame seeds, and salt.
  • Prepare the rice according to package instructions and cover to maintain warmth.
  • Heat half of the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Saute the carrot, stirring, until just tender, about 2-3 minutes. Transfer to a bowl using a slotted spoon. Brown the mince in the same pan for about 10 minutes, breaking up any lumps. Once browned, transfer to a bowl and cover with foil to keep warm. Wipe the pan clean with a paper towel.
  • Heat the remaining vegetable oil in the pan over medium heat, then crack the eggs into the pan and cook for about 3 minutes until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  • Scoop rice into individual serving bowls. Top each with a generous portion of mince and vegetables, then crown with eggs. Accompany with a side of chili sauce and miso soup.
