"Delicious black cast iron pan bread with lucky New Years collard greens, black eyed peas, and hawg jaws. Change your luck with this tradition!"
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill, or to taste
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can beer, room temperature
  • 4 ounces cubed Cheddar cheese, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9 to 10-inch cast iron skillet.
  • Combine self-rising flour, sugar, onion powder, dill weed, and salt in a large bowl. Gently mix in the beer until all dry ingredients are incorporated, being careful not to deflate the beer. Finally, fold in the cheese cubes.
  • Bake until the top springs back when lightly touched and the bread rises well above the pan's edge, about 45 to 60 minutes.
