Spiced cobbler with warm cinnamon and nutmeg.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1 (16 ounce) can sliced peaches in heavy syrup
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground nutmeg, or to taste
  • 1 cup 2% milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) then allow the butter to melt in an 8x8 inch baking dish inside the oven as you gather the rest of your ingredients.
  • In a saucepan, bring peaches with syrup and 2 tablespoons of sugar to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes; then set aside. Combine flour, 1 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl. Mix in milk until just moistened. Pour batter into a hot baking dish with butter. Spoon peach slices and most of the syrup over the batter.
  • After baking for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, sprinkle the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar on top. Continue baking until golden brown, for an additional 30 to 45 minutes.
