Ginger-spiced American classic cookies with a crispy-chewy texture - perfectly perfected recipe. Ginger optional.
Ingredients:
  • 4.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup butter flavored shortening
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 1.5 cups packed light brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons skim milk
  • 4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.75 cup finely chopped crystallized ginger
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) while you sift the flour, baking soda, and salt together in a small bowl.
  • Combine butter, shortening, white sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and milk. Slowly incorporate sifted ingredients with a wooden spoon. Fold in chocolate chips and crystallized ginger. Using two spoons, drop dough 2 inches apart on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes on the middle rack of the preheated oven until the cookies turn golden brown on the sides and the shine on top is gone. Cool on the baking sheet briefly before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
