Crunchy and sweet twist on a classic snack, ideal for picnics, movie nights, or as a thoughtful gift.
Ingredients:
  • 6 cups popped popcorn
  • 1/2 cup toasted slivered almonds, if desired
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 250°F. Spread popcorn evenly in a 15x10x1-inch baking pan without greasing it, then sprinkle the almonds on top.
  • Combine brown sugar, butter, water, corn syrup, and salt in a large saucepan. Mix thoroughly and bring to a satisfying boil over medium heat. Stir constantly and let it boil for 2 minutes.
  • Take the saucepan off the heat, add baking soda, and mix well. Pour the mixture over the popcorn and almonds right away, then toss until everything is coated evenly.
  • Preheat oven to 250°F. Bake for 15 minutes, stir; bake another 15 minutes, stir; bake for 5 more minutes. Spread on foil or waxed paper right away. Allow to cool for 30 minutes before serving.
