Whip up a simple and delicious dessert using canned cherries, buttermilk, and baking mix.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (15 ounce) can pitted tart red cherries, drained with liquid reserved
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk baking mix
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C and grease a 9x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Combine the cherry liquid and 1/2 cup sugar in a small glass bowl. Microwave for 1 to 2 minutes until the sugar is dissolved. Let it cool for later use.
  • In a small bowl, combine the baking mix, 1/2 cup sugar, and milk until you have a moist batter. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish, then top with cherries and slowly pour the cherry juice on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until lightly golden brown.
