Upgrade your white sauce with American cheese and a flavorful vegetable puree blend.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 0.5 cup chopped carrots
  • 0.5 cup chopped celery
  • 0.5 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups half-and-half
  • 12 ounces American cheese, sliced into strips
Instructions:
  • Melt 1/4 cup of butter in a pan over medium heat, then saute the onion, carrot, celery, pepper, and tomato until soft. Blend the cooked vegetables with vegetable broth in a blender or food processor and set aside.
  • In a separate pot, melt the last 1/2 cup of butter. Gradually whisk in flour, then add half and half. Once warm, gently blend in cheese until melted. Fold in veggie puree and serve.
