Delicious Italian cake with dates, walnuts, anise, and lemon - perfect for any party or celebration.
Ingredients:
  • 1 teaspoon shortening
  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 0.33333334326744 cup orange juice
  • 0.33333334326744 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons anise extract
  • 1 drop lemon extract
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease a fluted tube pan (like a Bundt®) with shortening, then dust with flour.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl, sifting to blend evenly.
  • Cream together sugar and butter in a bowl until light and fluffy, then blend in eggs.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the orange juice and milk, then add it to the sugar mixture. Stir in the flour mixture, anise, and lemon extract until fully combined. Gently fold in the dates and walnuts before pouring the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the top of the cake springs back when touched and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 20 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool for an additional 15 to 25 minutes.
