Quick and easy pork chop suey: tender diced pork sautéed with mixed veggies, bean sprouts in rich brown sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup shortening
  • 1.5 cups diced pork loin
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can bean sprouts, drained and rinsed
  • 0.33300000429153 cup cold water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
Instructions:
  • Assemble all ingredients.
  • In a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat, warm up the shortening. Add the pork and sear until it changes color to white.
  • Sauté onions for 5 minutes until translucent. Add celery, hot water, salt, and pepper. Cover and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Add fresh, crunchy sprouts and heat the mixture until it boils.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together cold water, cornstarch, soy sauce, and sugar until fully blended.
  • Cook the mixture in the skillet until it thickens to your liking, approximately 5 minutes.
