Crispy fried chicken in seasoned flour - fast, easy, and affordable.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon rubbed sage
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying, or as needed
  • 4 chicken leg quarters, cut into thighs and drumsticks
Instructions:
  • Thoroughly whisk the eggs in a shallow bowl. Combine flour, sage, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder by sifting them together in a bowl.
  • In a large, deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches a depth of about 2 inches. Dip chicken pieces into beaten egg, then coat thoroughly with seasoned flour.
  • Dip chicken into hot oil until golden brown on one side for about 10 minutes. Lower heat to medium and continue frying on the other side until golden brown and cooked through, about 20 additional minutes. Check for doneness by inserting an instant-read meat thermometer into the thickest part of a thigh, it should register 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
