Hearty meatloaf with sweet tangy topping, best paired with creamy mashed potatoes.
Ingredients:
  • 18.20 gm olive oil
  • 1 brown onion, finely chopped
  • 375.00 ml fresh breadcrumbs
  • 500g Beef 3 Star Regular Mince
  • 300g pork and veal mince
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 23.40 gm wholegrain mustard
  • 12.20 gm Worcestershire sauce
  • 168.75 gm 30% Sugar Reduced Tomato Sauce
  • 32.00 gm brown sugar
  • Mashed potato, to serve
  • Steamed green beans, to serve
  • Gravy, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C/180°C fan-forced. Grease a 9cm-deep, 9cm x 19cm (base) loaf pan. In a medium frying pan over medium heat, sauté onion and garlic in oil for 5 minutes until the onion softens. Allow to cool for 5 minutes.
  • Combine onion, breadcrumbs, ground meat, egg, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and 1/2 cup of tomato sauce in a bowl. Transfer mixture to a pan and smooth the top with a spoon.
  • Mix sugar and the rest of the sauce in a small bowl. Spread over the top of the mince. Bake for 1 hour until the meatloaf is golden brown and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Drain excess juices from the pan. Let it rest for 5 minutes. Serve with potatoes, green beans, and gravy.
