Homemade pumpkin scones with pumpkin spice glaze, rivaling your favorite coffee shop's!
Ingredients:
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 0.75 cup canned pumpkin
  • 2 tablespoons half-and-half
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) and butter up a baking sheet.
  • Combine flour, white sugar, baking powder, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger in a large bowl. Use a pastry cutter or 2 knives to cut in butter and shortening until mixture is crumbly.
  • In a separate bowl, combine pumpkin, egg, and half-and-half. Stir this mixture into the flour mixture until just combined. Turn the dough onto a floured surface, shape it into a 1/2-inch-thick square, cut it into pizza-like wedges, and arrange them on the baking sheet.
  • Bake until golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Cool scones on a wire rack.
  • Combine confectioners' sugar, milk, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice in a bowl, then drizzle the mixture over the scones.
