Savor a juicy, tender corned beef by simmering brisket with onion, garlic, and spices for 3.5 hours. Serve it with boiled cabbage for a classic and satisfying meal.
Ingredients:
  • 1 corned beef brisket (2 1/2 to 3 lb)
  • 1 medium onion, cut into 6 wedges
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 small head green cabbage, cut into 6 wedges
Instructions:
  • Unwrap beef, keeping the flavorful juices and spices aside. Trim any excess fat from the beef and transfer it to a 4-quart Dutch oven. Pour in the reserved juices and spices, then add just enough cold water to cover the beef. Toss in the onion and garlic to enhance the flavors.
  • Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and cover. Let it simmer for 2 ½ to 3 ½ hours until the beef is tender and flavorful.
  • Transfer the beef to a platter to keep warm. Remove any excess fat from the broth and then add the cabbage. Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat to simmer uncovered for roughly 15 minutes or until the cabbage is tender. Serve the cabbage and broth alongside the beef.
