Make delicious, thin and spicy gingersnap cookies perfect for holiday sharing.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup shortening
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 cup molasses
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease your cookie sheets.
  • Cream together the shortening and sugar in a large bowl until smooth. Beat in the egg until fluffy, then mix in the molasses. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, and cinnamon. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until fully combined. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls, dip each ball in sugar, and place them sugared side up on a cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake until cookies spread and tops crack, about 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
