Double breaded oyster mushrooms air-fried to crispy perfection in buttermilk and seasoned flour for maximum flavor and crunch.
Ingredients:
  • 4 ounces oyster mushrooms, trimmed
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • non-stick cooking spray
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions:
  • Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
  • In a bowl, combine oyster mushrooms and buttermilk. Ensure mushrooms are well coated in buttermilk, then let them marinate for 15 minutes.
  • Combine flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and ground mustard in a large resealable bag. Seal and shake to evenly mix.
  • Dredge mushrooms in seasoned flour, then coat them in buttermilk before breading them again for a double-coated crunch. Place on a clean plate before frying.
  • Coat the air fryer basket with nonstick spray. Arrange a few breaded mushrooms in a single layer in the basket without overcrowding.
  • Air-fry mushrooms for 4 minutes, then brush with vegetable oil and air-fry for an additional 4 minutes. Flip mushrooms using tongs and cook for 2 more minutes. Repeat with the remaining mushrooms.
