Savory Southern-style creamy hamburger gravy with a perfect spice blend, ideal for pairing with any dish.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 0.5 onion, finely chopped
  • 5 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon ground sage
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
Instructions:
  • In a large deep skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until cooked through. Drain most of the grease, leaving a light coating in the pan. Add the onions and sauté for a few minutes.
  • Pour 4 cups of milk into the pan, and stir to deglaze. Add bouillon, butter, sage, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes, stirring often.
  • Whisk the flour into the remaining cup of milk until the mixture is smooth. Pour it slowly into the skillet while stirring continuously. Let it simmer for a few minutes until it thickens. Adjust the consistency by adding a splash of milk if it's too thick or simmering longer or adding more flour if it's too thin. Season to taste before serving.
