Maple bacon caramel corn with pretzels: A delicious sweet and savory snack that everyone will love!
Ingredients:
  • 1 (12 ounce) package thick-cut bacon
  • 0.5 cup real maple syrup
  • 3 quarts popped popcorn
  • 2 cups crispy rice cereal squares (such as Rice Chex®)
  • 2 cups crispy wheat cereal squares (such as Wheat Chex®)
  • 2 cups peanuts
  • 2 cups pretzel sticks
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions:
  • Place a sheet of aluminum foil on a baking sheet.
  • Lay bacon slices closely together, slightly overlapping on the baking sheet. Drizzle evenly with maple syrup.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C. Place the baking sheet with the bacon in the oven and bake until crisp, approximately 20 minutes.
  • Place crispy bacon slices onto a paper towel-covered plate to cool. Once cooled, crumble the bacon.
  • Lower the oven temperature to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C) and prepare 2 baking sheets by lining them with aluminum foil.
  • Gently combine popcorn, rice cereal, wheat cereal, peanuts, pretzels, and crumbled bacon in a big bowl, then spread mixture onto prepared baking sheets.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter; then combine with brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Stir constantly until mixture boils. Let it boil for 4 minutes without stirring.
  • Transfer the popcorn mixture to the preheated oven to heat through.
  • Take the butter mixture off the heat and stir in vanilla extract and baking soda until the caramel starts to foam. Drizzle the caramel in a thin stream over the popcorn mixture, making sure everything is evenly coated as you toss it.
  • Bake caramel corn in the oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes until the caramel coating is set. Allow it to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
