Spiced ginger cookies with a hint of molasses for a quick and flavorful treat.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup shortening
  • 0.25 cup molasses
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup white sugar, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for a perfect bake.
  • Cream together 1 cup of white sugar and shortening until light and fluffy in a large bowl. Mix in molasses and egg until smooth.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl. Slowly incorporate into shortening mixture until dough just comes together.
  • Place 1/2 cup white sugar in a shallow bowl. Shape dough into 1-inch balls, coat each ball in sugar, and position them 2 inches apart on a baking sheet.
  • "Let the oven work its magic until the dish is perfectly golden and set, about 10 to 15 minutes."
