"Sprout wheat berries for hearty, protein-packed loaf. Handle with care, follow instructions closely for best results."
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup sprouted wheat berries, ground
  • 0.75 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.33300000429153 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons vital wheat gluten
  • 2.25 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons active dry yeast
Instructions:
  • A few days before baking, rinse 1/2 cup raw wheat berries and soak them in cool water overnight. Rinse the berries thoroughly about three times a day until they sprout, typically in 2 days. Once sprouted, grind the sprouts in a blender or food processor.
  • Follow the manufacturer's recommendation for ingredient placement in the bread machine pan. Choose Whole Wheat cycle and Medium Crust setting, then press Start.
  • For best results, add sprouts to the machine's raisin cycle at the beep to ensure sprouts stay intact. Without this feature, the bread may turn out mushy.
