German-style deep fried beef dumplings - a treasured family recipe that's sure to impress!
Ingredients:
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 8 ounces extra lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 quart oil for deep frying
Instructions:
  • Combine the ground beef, onion, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl, ensuring they are thoroughly mixed. Let sit.
  • Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Add eggs and milk, mix well with a sturdy spoon until blended. Shape dough into 2-inch balls, then roll out into 1/4-inch thick circles on a floured surface.
  • Shape the beef into golf ball sized portions, then position each one on one side of a dough circle. Fold the circles in half to cover the beef, and seal the edges by using a saucer or pressing down with your fingers.
  • In a deep fryer or large deep skillet, heat the oil to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C. Fry the Keuchle until golden brown, turning once, for approximately 10 minutes per batch.
