French-inspired beef lasagna with velvety bechamel and Swiss cheese layers for ultimate indulgence.
Ingredients:
  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 onion, diced
  • 0.25 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1.5 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 pinch herbes de Provence
  • garlic powder
  • 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
  • 1. Boil a large pot of lightly salted water. Add lasagna noodles and cook until al dente, approximately 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Drain noodles.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) to create the perfect cooking environment.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté ground beef, onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic until beef is cooked through, about 5-8 minutes.
  • In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter until bubbly. Add flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly pour in milk and heavy cream. Stir frequently until the sauce thickens, around 5 minutes.
  • Evenly layer 1/4 of the tomato sauce in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Top with 3 lasagna noodles. Spread 1/3 of the beef mixture over the noodles, followed by another 1/4 of tomato sauce and 1/3 of the white sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, herbes de Provence, and garlic powder. Finish with 1/3 of the Swiss cheese and mozzarella cheese.
  • Layer the ingredients three times, beginning with the noodles and finishing with the cheeses.
  • Bake the lasagna until the top is golden brown, for about 30 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven.
