Delicious baked cabbage with savory onions, creamy mushroom soup, and gooey melted cheese.
Ingredients:
  • 1 head cabbage, finely chopped
  • 6 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 0.5 pound processed cheese food (such as Velveeta ®), cut into chunks
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.75 cup bread crumbs
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place the cabbage in a large pot filled with lightly salted water, ensuring it's covered. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until tender, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and let it steam dry for a minute or two.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the margarine until bubbly. Saute the onion until golden brown. Lower the heat, stir in the cheese until melted. Add the mushroom soup and mix well. Combine the drained cabbage, bread crumbs, salt, and pepper. Transfer the mixture to a 2-quart casserole dish.
  • Bake until the cheese is bubbly and golden, around 20-30 minutes in the preheated oven.
