Quick and easy Goan fish curry with coconut, chili peppers, and kokum fruit, perfect to be enjoyed with rice.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 pound white fish, cut into thin slices (such as pomfret)
  • 0.5 cup grated coconut
  • 5 red Kashmiri chiles
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1.5 tablespoons coriander seeds
  • 4 whole peppercorns
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2 pieces kokum (fruit from the mangosteen family)
Instructions:
  • Season fish pieces generously with salt to enhance the flavor.
  • Blend coconut, red chiles, garlic, coriander, and peppercorns into a smooth paste using a mortar and pestle.
  • In a pot, mix paste and turmeric powder and bring to a boil. Add fish and simmer over medium heat until it flakes easily with a fork, around 15 minutes. Stir in kokum until well combined.
