Upgrade your lasagna with a surprising twist: creamy sour cream mixed into the cheese layers for a rich and tangy flavor profile.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 pound ground pork sausage
  • 0.5 pound ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried basil
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 pinch white sugar
  • 1 (8 ounce) package lasagna noodles
  • 1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
  • 2 (12 ounce) packages shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 0.75 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 cup chopped pitted green olives
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 teaspoons salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown and crumble sausage, ground beef, and garlic for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove any excess grease after cooking.
  • Combine diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, parsley, basil, oregano, and sugar in a pot. Bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer on medium-low, stirring occasionally, until thickened, approximately 30 minutes.
  • After the sauce has simmered for 15 minutes, boil a large pot of lightly salted water. Add lasagna noodles and cook uncovered until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain.
  • Combine sour cream, half of the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, olives, eggs, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl and stir until well mixed.
  • Create layers of deliciousness: Start with a blanket of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Add 1/3 of the lasagna noodles, 1/3 of the meat sauce, and 1/3 of the cheese mixture. Repeat twice with the remaining ingredients. Finish off with a sprinkle of mozzarella on top.
  • Bake in the oven until the sauce bubbles and the cheese turns golden brown, around 30 minutes.
