Delightful family recipe - Easy Texas sheet cake for chocolate lovers, perfect for new bakers.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease and flour a 10x15-inch cake pan.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter with water and cocoa powder until mixture boils. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, and vanilla extract.
  • Combine the melted butter mixture with the flour mixture, then mix in the buttermilk-egg mixture until fully incorporated. Transfer the batter to the cake pan.
  • Bake in the oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, around 20 minutes. Then, cool the cake on a wire rack for 5 minutes.
  • While the cake is in the oven, prepare the frosting: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, milk, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract. Stir until the butter melts, then mix in the powdered sugar.
  • Frost the warm cake generously.
