Decadent chocolate custard pie recipe passed down from my grandmother, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.33333334326744 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 (9 inch) pie shell, baked
  • 4 egg whites
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • In a large saucepan or double boiler, mix flour, cocoa powder, 1 cup of sugar, and salt. Stir in milk and egg yolks. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Remove from heat, add vanilla extract, and pour into baked pie shell.
  • Start by beating the egg whites in a large mixing bowl until foamy before gradually adding 1/4 cup of sugar and vanilla. Keep beating until stiff peaks form, then spread the meringue over the pie to cover it completely.
  • Place in the oven that has been preheated for 8 to 10 minutes, until the top turns a lovely golden brown. Let it cool before enjoying your culinary creation.
