Award-winning custard pie with creamy filling and flaky crust.
Ingredients:
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 2.5 cups scalded milk
  • 3 drops yellow food coloring
  • 1 (9 inch) frozen pie crust, thawed
  • 1 large egg white, beaten
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Combine eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl and mix thoroughly. Gradually blend in scalded milk, then stir in 3 drops of yellow food coloring for a vibrant hue.
  • Brush the pie crust with beaten egg white to ensure a crisp base. Pour in custard mixture and sprinkle with nutmeg.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
