Grandma's classic hotdish: Ground beef, green beans, potato nuggets, cheese in creamy mushroom sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.75 cup sour cream
  • 1 (15 ounce) can green beans, drained and liquid reserved, divided
  • 1 (8 ounce) package processed cheese (such as Velveeta®), sliced
  • 1 pound frozen bite-sized potato nuggets (such as Tater Tots®)
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown and crumble ground beef for 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess grease, then sauté onion until soft and translucent for about 5 minutes.
  • Combine condensed soup, creamy sour cream, and the flavorful green bean liquid in a small bowl. Set the delectable sauce aside.
  • Combine the green beans with the cooked beef and onions, then transfer the mixture to a casserole dish. Layer with sliced cheese and top with frozen potato nuggets before pouring the sauce over the top.
  • Bake the potatoes in the preheated oven until they are browned and the sauce is bubbly, approximately 1 hour.
