Elevate grandma's tuna casserole with crispy ridged potato chips for texture. Cook in the microwave for speed or bake in the oven for extra crunch.
Ingredients:
  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 (5 ounce) can tuna, drained and flaked, or more to taste
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 0.5 cup milk, divided
  • 1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix (such as Lipton®)
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste
  • 0.125 teaspoon seasoned salt (such as LAWRY'S®), or more to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces, divided
  • 8 ounces ridged potato chips (such as Ruffles®)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
  • 1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a rapid boil. Add egg noodles and cook until al dente, about 7 to 9 minutes. Drain well.
  • Combine cooked noodles with tuna, sour cream, 1/4 cup milk, onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, seasoned salt, salt, and pepper until well blended. Adjust seasonings to taste.
  • Spread half of the butter on the bottom of the 2-quart casserole dish. Crush the potato chips and sprinkle a quarter of them over the butter, pressing gently to flatten.
  • Evenly distribute the tuna-noodle mixture on top of the crushed chips. Layer with half of the mozzarella cheese, two-thirds of the remaining chips, then add the remaining butter, chips, milk, and mozzarella on top.
  • Microwave on high for 10 minutes until the casserole is hot and the cheese is melted.
