Delicious Bundt cake featuring walnuts and maraschino cherries, a festive holiday treat.
Ingredients:
  • 16 maraschino cherries
  • 2.25 cups cake flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1.3333333730698 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.25 cup maraschino cherry juice
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and prepare a fluted tube pan (like a Bundt) by greasing and flouring it.
  • Cut each luscious maraschino cherry into 8 delightful pieces; set aside.
  • Combine and sift together cake flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  • Whisk egg whites in a glass, metal, or ceramic bowl until foamy.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and shortening. Add the dry ingredients and mix until combined. Then, blend in the milk and cherry juice. Mix in the egg whites thoroughly. Finally, gently fold in the walnuts and cherries before pouring the batter into the prepared pan.
  • 1. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. 2. Allow to cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes. 3. Run a table knife around the edges to loosen the cake. 4. Carefully invert onto a serving plate or cooling rack. 5. Let the cake cool completely before serving.
