Decadent and rich chocolate cream pie with a lusciously dense custard filling - a satisfying treat that's not overly sweet.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 5 large egg yolks
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (such as Hershey's®)
  • 5 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 (10 inch) prepared graham cracker crust
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan, combine sugar and yolks, then mix until creamy. Add milk, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt, whisking until smooth. Pour in half-and-half and cook over medium heat, whisking continuously until the filling thickens, about 20 minutes.
  • Once the filling starts to bubble, turn off the heat, and keep stirring for 1 minute. Remove the thickened filling from the warm burner. Mix in the butter and vanilla extract until fully melted and combined. Allow the filling to cool a bit, approximately 10 minutes.
  • Thoroughly mix filling and transfer it into the graham cracker crust, using a spatula to create a smooth top. Refrigerate uncovered for 4 hours to chill.
